Description

WEYMOUTH

SY6681SE RADIPOLE LANE, Radipole
873-1/12/502 (North side)
Churchyard boundary wall to Church
of St Ann

GV II

Boundary wall and gate piers. Possibly C18 or earlier. Squared
and coursed rubble, with a stone-on-edge top course below a
weathered parapet, and ashlar piers. Opposite the entrance
porch to the church (qv) are square Portland stone piers to
flat stepped pyramidal cappings and on square bases, absorbed
in later paving to the right. To the right the wall, approx
1.5m high but decreasing with the rise in the street, runs the
full width of the churchyard and returns to the end gable of
the Manor House (qv). To the left the wall is similar, but in
a series of 4 steps, extending approx 14m. Beyond this coped
section the walling is variously overgrown and broken down,
without coping.
