Description

BRIDESTOWE
SK 58 NW

12/48 Cranford Cottage
-

- II

Cottage. Circa early C19. Colourwashed rubble walls. Gable ended asbestos slate
roof. Rendered stack at right gable end.
2-room plan with direct entry into larger heated right-hand room which was
kitchen/living room. To the left-hand side is the staircase at the front with a
small dairy at the rear. In the C20 a bathroom was added at the rear of the house
in a single storey extension.
2 storeys. Asymmetrical 2 window front of 2-light C19 small-paned casements. Early
C20 plank door to left of centre. There is no ground floor window to its left where
the stairs are situated. At the rear to the right is the dairy window. C20 lean-to
to its left.
Interior is very unaltered. The principal room has an open fireplace which formerly
contained a range.
This is a little altered example of a modest form of building which is now fast
disappearing.
