SX85NW Dam to Lake about 260
6/8 Metres South East of
Sharpham House at Grid
Reference 829577
GV II
Dam with causeway above. Probably C19. Pitched and horizontally coursed
slate revetment to a low earth dam. The dam forms a fresh water lake made
from what was originally a small tidal creek on the River Dart.
The lake is part of the picturesque landscaping of the grounds of Sharpham
House ((qv)), carried out during the late C18 and C19.
