The east window has glass by Kempe, originally in Derwent Church, but reset in Hathersage in 1948, following the creation of Derwent reservoir and the submersion of the church. The window depicts St James with his emblem the scallop shell, Christ crucified with the motto Spes unica (put your hope in the one) below him the Pelican in her piety, sacrificing her blood for the young. On the right is St John the Evangelist with below his emblem the eagle. (Photo Jun 2016).
