The inscription above the father reads 'Here under lyeth buryed, Sir Gyles Alington, Knight who died 25 Aprilis an 1522. He maryed Marye, the only daughter and heire of Sir Richard Gardener, Knighte, and by her had issue, Gyles, George, William, John, Anthonie, Roberte, Richarde, Awdrye, Joanne and Marye'.
