Translated roughly as 'Lo here ye noble Mary lyes, as good and fair as any, Springing from ye race and ancient stock of Squire Hight, Laurence Cheyne wife heretofore she was unto John Alington, Esquire and now below a marble stone lyes or very nigh her. After this worldly darkness past, grant that great God she may forever live with Thee, who are forever and for aye'.
