Detached house. Late C18 with alterations and additions. Hammer dressed stone with
ashlar quoins. Stone slate roof with gable copings on large, built-up kneelers. Two
storeys and attic. Entrance front (south-east gable): 3 bays. Sashes with glazing
bars. Central doors with segmental fan. Single light in pediment with segmental
false arch. Sashes to side elevations. Interior said to have doors with 6-fielded
panels and sunk-panelled window shutters. Dower-house of Armitage family. 'The
