4/18 Saint Anthony's Lighthouse and
- Keepers Cottage

Lighthouse and Keepers cottage. 1834-35. Painted granite ashlar walls with paired
chimneys to landward north-east side. Octagonal on plan with covered passage to 2
room keepers cottage to rear. 4 floors plus lantern. Built on bedrock with banded,
rusticated ashlar to base and to flanking observations areas with original bollards
and iron rails. Lighthouse tower slightly tapered. Windows to 4 sides with
alternate 16-pane sashes, and blind windows. Moulded spray deflecting cornice with
original simple parapet balustrade, 12-light lantern surmounted by weather vane.
Keepers cottage is single storey with hipped slate roof and 2 sashes.
Interiors not inspected. Fog warning bell, Cornwall's heaviest,was removed in 1854.
