Saint Anthony's Lighthouse and Keepers Cottage

Lighthouse and keepers cottage. 1834-35.
MATERIALS: Painted granite ashlar walls with paired chimneys to landward north-east side.
PLAN: Octagonal on plan with covered passage to two-room keepers' cottage to rear.
EXTERIOR: Four floors plus lantern. Built on bedrock with banded, rusticated ashlar to base and to flanking observations areas with original bollards and iron rails. Lighthouse tower slightly tapered. Windows to four sides with alternate 16-pane sashes, and blind windows. Moulded spray-deflecting cornice with original simple parapet balustrade, 12-light lantern surmounted by weather vane. Keepers' cottage is single storey with hipped slate roof and two sashes.
INTERIOR: not inspected. Fog warning bell, Cornwall's heaviest, was removed in 1854.
