Board school, including yard walls, gate-piers and gates. Datestone 1874. Killas
rubble with granite dressings. Asbestos slate roof with gable-ended wings at the
front. Rubble and brick lateral stacks, one over rear wall, one over each of the
left-hand walls of the wings.
Plan: Overall U-shaped plan. Principal schoolroom in main range; large classroom in
each of the wings which project in front from either end. Principal entrance porch
in the left-hand angle leading to entrance lobby. Another porch in the other angle.
Gothic style features. Small C20 extension between the porch.
Exterior: Single storey. Unaltered elevations except for small C20 porch and C20
extension between the porches which partly obscures principal central hall window
opening with gable over. 4-centred arched doorway into gable-ended porch in left-
hand angle. 2-light transomed window to front of other lean-to porch. Gable ends of
classroom wing projecting in front at left and right. Each gable end has central 3-
light traceried granite mullioned window with hoodmould. Windows to other elevations
are original wooden 3-light windows with transoms.
Rubble coped rubble walls on 4 sides of school playground. Central part of front
wall has wide gateway with rectangular-on-plan gate-piers flanked by low walls.
Round-headed granite monolithic gate-piers; dressed granite copings over the low
walls; C20 concrete screen replacing railings above. Probably original wrought-iron
gates with looped bars.
