section only)

GV II

Multi-use farm building, late C17. Red brick, in English Garden Wall
Bond, with some timber framing and slate roof. 2 storeys,6 bays,with
later 3-bay addition (south). Light-weight, brick nogged, timber
framing, at first floor level, on the east side and heavier timber at
the rear (west) with passing braces. Half heck and full length ledged
and battened doors. Hopper windows with segmental arches at ground
floor and upper windows in gabled dormers.
Interior: Trusses with tie beam and collar, raking braces and four
posts between the beams. Oak ridgetree and purlins. Two of the
purlins have ovolo moulded edges, are carved with ecclesiastical
motifs and one is inscribed Thomas Twiss Wardens 1689. Listed for
group value only.
