SJ 55 NE BUNBURY C.P. COLLEGE LANE

2/22 Bunbury School

II

Former National Sunday and Daily School, 1830 (stone tablet over
window) now converted to dwellings. Red brick with blue brick headers
in Flemish Bond with slate roof. 5 bays, mainly single storey but the
south bay (formerly the teachers house) is 2-storey. The end bays are
set back, the centre bay is set forward. Sandstone plinth. The
mullion and transome windows have casements with glazing bars, stone
sills and stone skewback heads with carved keystones. A tablet, over
the central window, gives the basic details above and the date. The
north and central bays are gabled and have stone copings, other bays
have ogee moulded stone gutter cornice. One round lead rainwater head
carries the names J Young, G Roylance and another R.E.1830. The roof
of the former teachers houses is pitched at right angles to the school
roof and has a chimney.
Interior: Modernised for residential accommodation, of no interest.
