SW 83 NW MYLOR RESTRONGUET BARTON

4/260 Chyvounder and adjoining cottage

GV II


Small house (possibly originally farmhouse) with later cottage attached. C18 and
early C19. Painted shale rubble walls, slate sills and wooden lintels except for
brick arches to ground floor openings of cottage. Scantle slate roof with brick
chimneys over gable ends and over party wall.
House has 2 rooms with central stair and cottage has 1-room front and service room
under later C19 lean-to at rear.
2 storeys south west front with 1-window front of circa early C19 cottage, left,
adjoining 3-window symmetrical front of original house. All circa late C19/early C20
2-light casements except for 4-pane horned sash to ground floor right. House has
central wide doorway with probably original 6-panel door with top 4 panels later
glazed. Cottage has flat arch over ground floor window and projecting keystone to
shallow arch over doorway on right.
Interior not inspected.
One of a group of 4 C17 and C18 farmhouses with 2 of the others included in this
list.
