Description

SW 83 NW MYLOR RESTRONGUET BARTON

4/263 Sunnyside

GV II

Farmhouse. C17 partly remodelled in the C18. Partly painted shale rubble and cob
walls, slate sills and wooden lintels. Scantle slate roofs with gable ends. Large
external rubble stack with brick shaft to right-hand gable and brick chimney in 2
stages over left-hand gable.,
T-shaped plan of parlour left and hall/kitchen right flanking through passage,
leading to 2 storey unheated wing at right angles to rear with stair to left-hand
side of wing behind parlour.
2 storeys. Nearly symmetrical 3-window south east front with doorway, with C20 door,
central to fenestration. Circa late C19 horned 4-pane sashes. Wing has wide window
opening to ground floor middle of gable end and original small 2-light chamfered oak
mullioned window with lights blocked with rubble, high up in gable. To north east
wall is doorway, left, and C19 centre hung 16-pane 2-light casement, right.
Interior is little altered since the C18: dog leg stair and ovolo-moulded beams. To
right of passage is part length draught excluding partition. Roof space not
accessible at time of survey.
One of a group of 4 C17 and C18 farmhouses with 2 of the others included in this
list. This one is particularly interesting and has good cob texture and rare C17
(for this part of Cornwall) window.
