9/13 The Old Cellars
GV II
Fish (pilchard) cellars converted into restaurant with small cottage on west.
Random rubble walls, partly whitewashed with timber boarding to first floor on
north-east block. Slurried scantle slate gabled roofs with hipped roof on
south. Brick chimneys on gabled ends of north east block. Comprising 2-storey
range to the north-east with courtyard in front. Single storey block with
central entrance on the south-east and 2 single storey wings to the north-west
and south-west with open fronts to yards, their roofs supported on square
granite posts. 2-storey corner on west forms part of adjoining cottage.
Courtyard has sloping cobbled floor with channel to collect oil and salt from
pressed pilchards. Included for group value.
