Description

TINTAGEL TREWARMETT
SX 08 NE
4/222 Tredavid
GV II
House. Circa late C17 or early C18. Extended in circa mid to late C20. Slate stone
rubble. Slate roof with hipped end to front and gable end to rear, continued with a
C20 extension to rear. Projecting stone-rubble side lateral stack on left.
Plan altered and the house has been re-orientated. Originally 2 room plan with
entrance in present right-hand side wall. The entrance led directly into the left
hand room (now front) which was heated by a rear lateral stack. To the right (now
rear) a small unheated room, probably a dairy, was partitioned off from the main
room. In circa C19 the house was re-orientated, the entrance blocked and an entrance
inserted in the gable end (on left) which now faces the road and thus making the
house appear as if of end entry plan. In circa mid to late C20 the partition between
the heated and unheated ground floor rooms was removed to form one large room and an
extension of 1 room plan was added to rear.
2 storeys. Asymmetrical front elevation with gable end. 2-light casement on ground
floor left with slate string above and C20 part glazed porch to right. 2-light
casement on first floor.
Interior : partly remodelled in late C19 and mid to late C20 with C20 fireplace.
First floor not inspected.
