Description

ZENNOR
SW 43 NW
3/248 Outbuilding (formerly a house) and
- almost adjoining outbuilding at
approximately 40 metres north north
east of Lower Porthmeor Farmhouse
GV II
2 almost adjoining buildings, one building originally a house, the other possibly a
shippon. C18 or earlier. Granite rubble with some dressed granite moorstone.
Corrugated iron roofs with gable end.
Plan: 2 room plan house, left, with large fireplace with large oven in left-hand room
and unheated right-hand room. Smaller rectangular building to the right was probably
a shippon with a narrow through passage between the buildings.
Exterior: single storey. Left-hand building has nearly symmetrical front with
central doorway and small window opening on either side (left-hand window blocked).
Right-hand building has doorway towards the right with large. Some vertically set
jamb stones.
Interiors: partition of house removed. Fireplace and oven are complete.
Interesting examples of primitive buildings and forming part of an unspoiled coastal
hamlet set in the ancient field system of this part of Cornwall.
