Garden walls and piers in the garden
of The Refectory, adjoining on the
east gable

Garden walls and 2 piers. C17 and part C18. Brick, part chalk and part flint. U-plan,
with southern leg of 'U' adjoining The Refectory (listed separately 17/7). The southern
section, together with part of the adjoining eastern section is of chalk with a stone
coping and with 2 round-headed arches with chalk dressings, now blocked with brickwork.
Immediately to the north of the arches are 2 large piers with moulded stone tops and
ball finials. The remaining parts of the wall are brick-faced on the north and east
faces, with chalk on the inner sides, and have several square-headed, later openings.
