Pair of houses building almost adjoining to north east and front garden walls. Mid C19. Killas walls. No 18 rendered and painted circa 1970. Hipped asbestos slate roof with brick chimneys over side walls and over party wall.
Each house has two-room plan with wing at right angles to rear of No 18 and parallel hipped roofed block to rear, right, (east) of No 19.
Two storeys. South fronts. Each house has two-window front. No 18, left, has circa 1900 canted bay windows with horned sashes and arched lights. Similar four-pane sashes to first floor. Side entrance to west wall with C20 glazed porch. No 19 has two-pane horned sashes and circa 1900 full width arcaded verandah with glass roof, open decorated piers and spandrels with trellised sides. Entrance to west side wall with polygonal roofed circa early C20 conservatory with horned sashes. Cast iron ogee gutters.
Interior not inspected.
Low granite coped garden wall to front. No 18 has stop chamfered cross braced gate and square-on-plan granite monolith piers with ogee shaped pyramidal caps. No 19 has rail and rectangular baluster fence with cross-braced gate between square-on-plan granite monolith piers with ball finials.
This is one of a row of similar contemporary houses in St Johns Terrace which form an impressive group in spite of later alterations to some of the houses.
