Description

ST 02 SW CLAYHANGER

7/78 Linhay to the north east of North
- Bulcombe Farmhouse

GV II

Linhay. Probably C18. Stone rubble and cob with a tiled roof, hipped at the left
end, adjoining a second linhay at the right end.
Exterior: 7 bay lofted linhay with rectangular stone rubble piers to loft floor
level, weatherboarding and corrugated iron between the piers. The open-fronted loft
is of unusual construction: outward-leaning posts are morticed into the crossbeams
and are fixed to short horizontal posts at the top, the rafters held in the inner
angle between the outward-leaning and horizontal timbers.
Interior: Pegged collar rafter roof trusses with halved collars.
An unusual farmbuilding, group value with North Bulcombe Farmhouse.
