Terraced houses. 1789-90. Developed by Thomas Rawstorne, brickmaker. Yellow brick set in Flemish bond, stucco, roofs obscured by parapet. Three storeys, nos 49-50 one-window range, nos 51-52 two windows each. No 49 has ground-floor shop front with pilasters, fascia and cornice; no 50 has ground floor decorated with modern stucco with banded rustication and flat-arched entrance with replacement doorcase and overlight; no 51 has ground and first floors stuccoed and scored as ashlar, round-arched entrance with impost blocks and cornice; no 52 has round-arched entrance with simple doorcase and gauged brick heads. No 50 has one flat-arched window to ground floor, nos 51-52 have two cambered-arched windows; upper windows to nos 49-50 flat-arched with gauged brick heads, those to nos 51-52 have cambered arches with gauged brick heads; parapet.
No 49 has right-hand return to Hermit Street: one cambered-arched window to each of first and second floors; in rear two-storey extension are flat-arched windows to each of ground and first floors, and round-arched entrance with gauged brick head.
