House. Early C19. Brick, rendered, sponge decorated, also
timber framing plastered, slate and peg-tiled roofs, brick
stack. L shaped plan round street corner with Little Walden
Road, partial infill of internal angle by single storeyed
lean-to. 2 storeys. S front elevation: 2 window range, central
front door, windows all C19 horned sashes now with diamond
leaded glazing. Doorway wooden with flat cornice hood, fluted
frieze, jambs bead moulded with simple projecting panel
decoration, door of 4 recessed panels. Roof hipped round E end
corner. E elevation, to Little Walden Road. Block of single
window range similar to S front. To N, lower 2-storey
timber-framed and plastered wing. One window range, peg-tiled
roof has steep pitch, ground floor single casement window with
lattice glazing and adjacent simple boarded door. First floor,
sliding sash 2x2 panes also lattice glazed. Rear W elevation:
Castle Street range has single storey C20 pantiled lean-to
into small courtyard, also short 2 storey lean-to with C20
light casement window 2x2 panes. Timber-framed wing has first
floor C20 single-light casement window. Ground floor obscured.
