Blue Bell Public House

GV II

House, now inn. Late C18. Coursed squared stone with quoins
and ashlar dressings; roof of concrete tiles with stone gable
copings and brick chimneys. 3 storeys; 2-window range and
2-storey, one-window rear wing. Central 6-panel door in C20
porch with C18 hood. Flat roofs to C19 shallow canted bay
window at left with 4-pane sashes and clasping projection at
right with canted corner and C20 glazing. On upper floors,
tooled stone surrounds to paired windows with stone mullions.
All renewed 4-pane sashes. Roof has gable copings on moulded
kneelers, and corniced end chimneys, the left red and the
right yellow brick.
Right return to Bridgegate has plain stone surround to 3-pane
sash at rear of ground floor, and small 4-pane sash at rear of
second floor with flat stone lintel and sill. Rear wing has
blocked door at left, wide ground-floor sash with one-over-3
panes and small second-floor 4-pane sash with flat stone
lintels and projecting stone sills. End chimney on wing.
