The chancel has one slate and white marble memorial to Rev Middleton who died 1830 Beneath is interred the Reverend John Middleton MA Born at Newcastle Upon Tyne 1759 who meekly, charitably and devoutly executed the duties of Vicar of this Parish for the period of 17 years. He firmly supported the principles of the Church whose minister he was , but his urbanity conciliated friends from all sects; and he died lamented by his flock on the 26th day of December 1830 Aged 71. This tablet was placed by a neighbour and friend who knew him well, who felt his loss and thought the example of a good mans life should never be lost To Posterity. (Photo Aug 2015).
