House, later subdivided into 2, now shops. Probably second
half of C16, with C19/20 alterations. Timber frame with
rendered front; tile roof with brick stacks to front of ridge.
2-unit plan. 2 storeys; 5-window range. 1st floor probably
jettied. No 116 has central segmental-headed entrance with
half-glazed door; No 117 has similar entrance to right end.
Ground floor has 2 segmental-headed windows of 2 lights with
pegged frames and shutter pegs, similar windows to 1st floor
with iron opening casements flanking blind window; No 117 has
small-paned bow window with frieze, cornice and canopy
extending over entrance to right, shutters; 1st floor has
3-light mullioned tramsomed window with casement to right of
blind window. Large stack to centre with smaller, later, stack
to left. Rear has gabled wing with square framing; irregular
fenestration with casements and entrances. Interior:
stop-chamfered beams and joists to both floors; large
fireplace with bressummer, smaller later fireplace and winding
stair to No 116; late C19 shop fittings to No 117; rear wing
has early C17 staircase with serpentine splat balusters, the
top flight with C16 fluted timber frieze re-used as handrail.
