Tamworth.
House. Early C18. Chequer brick with vitrified headers on
stone plinth; tile roof with brick end stacks. Central
staircase plan. 2 storeys with attic; symmetrical 5-window
range. Platt band over ground floor; top frieze and
modillioned timber cornice. Entrance has wooden architrave,
frieze and modillioned cornice, paired 2-panel doors. Ground
floor has segmental-headed windows with 4-light transomed
casement with pegged frame to left, sill and 12-pane
tripartite sash to right; 1st floor has windows with rubbed
brick flat arches over cross-casements with pegged frames;
attic has 3 gabled dormers with flush tiling to gables and
cheeks, 2 have casements with pegged frames. Rear has 2 gabled
wings and segmental-headed windows. Interior: part to left,
now part of No 18 (q.v.), has large fireplace with bressumer
and C19 range.
