Former Cookery and Laundry building,
Kingsway College Clerkenwell Centre

GV II

Former Cookery and Laundry building to Hugh Myddelton Schools,
on the west side of the school yard. c.1892. Yellow brick set
in Flemish bond with dressings of stucco and red brick, tiled
roof. Three storeys, four-window range. Flat-arched entrance
to south side with stone architrave inscribed 'COOKERY &
LAUNDRY'. All windows flat-arched with heads of gauged red
brick and red brick dressings, and mullions and transoms, the
two central windows to the first floor recessed under
elliptical arches in twin stone-coped full dormers with ball
finials. Half-hipped and gableted roof; stacks to north-east
and north-west corners. Two-storey wing to the north with
cantilevered and rendered upper floor and hipped roof of
slate, presumably an addition. Included for group value.
