Cells, former House of Detention,
Kingsway College Clerkenwell Centre

Group of cells. South-west of the former Hugh Myddelton
Schools, originally part of the male corridor of the Middlesex
House of Detention. 1845-7. By William Moseley. Brick laid in
English bond, shallow-arched ceiling of brick, partly carried
on cast-iron columns and wrought-iron beams with cross braces;
stone floor; five bays of unequal width; seven cells to the
north, three to the south, most with flat-arched entrances.
These cells relate to the rest of the surviving prison,
included as part of former House of Detention, below Kingsway
College Clerkenwell Centre (q.v.)
