Farmhouse. Late C18/early C19 refronting of earlier building, with later
alterations. Limestone rubble, rendered to front and sides, ashlar porch, stone
dressings, stone tiled roof with raised coped verges and gable stacks, slate roof
to rear additions. L-plan, rear wing with higher roof ridge. 2 storeys and
2 windows, ground and first floor left have 16-pane sash in plain surround,
central porch with 16-pane sash in place of door, cornice and parapet, ground and
first floor right have paired sashes in plain surrounds. Gable end at right
return has sash at ground floor and upper ground floor, sash at first floor right,
small sash at attic level to right, panelled and glazed door in wrought iron
trellis and canopy porch; higher block to right has at ground floor 3-light
casement with ovolo mullions and hood mould, paired sash (as on front) at first
floor right; rear of rear wing has 2 small fixed lights at attic level, 1½ storey
addition with 15-pane light and hipped slate roof; inner side of rear wing has
ground floor 3-light casement with ovolo mullions, also with 8-pane sashes;
addition with hipped roof has segmental-headed opening; heavy quoins. Addition
at first floor right on ashlar piers, in angle of L-plan, 8-pane sash at ground
floor, 2 C20 roof lights, lean-to attached to right. Interior: rear wing has
chamfered beams, window mullions ovolo-moulded inside, fireplace with flat head
and moulded jambs; front right room has heavy moulded and stopped timber lintel
to fireplace; front left room has marble fireplace, cornice and window shutters.
Winder stair to attic level, 2 bays of roof of rear wing visible, with principal
rafters, collar and one row of purlins; central bay joining rear wing to main
house has common rafter roof with 2 rows of purlins; front roof of 4 bays,
principal rafters, collar, 2 rows of purlins and plated yokes; thick wall to rear
of main house, possibly with gable before rear wing added.
