4/136 Group of two headstones

north of north transept

St Eadburgha

Two headstones. Late C17 and early C18. Limestone. Northern headstone
mainly illegible, but includes date "1687". It has an open segmental
pediment with winged head and a panel with moulded border flanked by scrolls
and vine tendril decoration. The southern headstone is also illegible and
includes a date "1727"(?). It has an oval panel flanked by engaged fluted
Corinthian columns which support an interrupted entablature and a segmental
pediment with carved angels.
