Single house in garden, former large Rectory. c 1730 under Rev. W Hawkins
(centre). Early C19 under Rev. G Raymond (wings). Lias ashlar walls with
cornices in Portland stone. Slate roofs, all hipped. 2 clustered stacks to
left and right at hip apexes. Central block (early C18). 3 storeys and
cellars with 2 plat-bands and cornice. 5 bays, sashes with nearly-flush
frames and projecting stone keys to all windows. Front door at centre with
flush and recessed panels, panelled wooden reveals and moulded architrave.
Semi-circular fanlight with glazing bars. Porch added early C19. Roman Doric
columns with flat canopy over with dentil and modillion cornice. Wings are
additions, of 2 storeys and one bay each. Ground floor windows, tripartite
sashes with semi-circular recessed heads. South one blocked internally. South
front, verandah runs length of ground floor with trelliswork supports with a
flared pentice roof. Interior: Hall staircase of cantilevered spiral form to
full height of house. Plain balusters, handrail and newel. Plaster oval
motif to staircase ceiling with bay-leaf ornament and neo-Classical paterae.
Rear staircase window with panelled reveals, round head with intersecting
glazing bars. 7 internal metal fanlights over doors, of good design. White
marble fireplaces to Dining Room and Drawing Room of neo-Classical design.
Moulded plaster cornices and dado-rails. 6 panel doors and window shutters
