TL3514NE COLLETT ROAD 829-1/7/56 (North side) Gates, lanterns and railings to Collett Lodge

GV II

Gates, lanterns and railings. c1888. Erected to define private drive to Collett House (not included), after the public right of way northwards had been extinguished. Wrought-iron, with pair of carriage gates with scrollwork tops, box piers with scrollwork inserts, surmounted by curved scrollwork brackets containing square glazed lanterns, originally with gas burners, with curved tops, and circular finials. Pedestrian gates at either side of carriage gates. Railings with spear uprights, strengthened by ogee braces at intervals, at left connecting to the garden wall of Collett House, and at right, running across the frontage of Collett Lodge (qv).
