Burgage house, now 2 houses the west house subdivided. C15 or C16,
altered C18 and mid-C19. Coursed and dressed rubble on chamfered plinth,
Cotswold stone roof. 4 chimneys in all grouped for 2 separate houses. U-
plan to rear. 2 storeys. 3:2 windows, sashes, The Glen with single
vertical glazing bars, Portland/Priory close with glazing bars, timber
lintels; angled bay to right-hand of The Glen. Moulded (ogee-quirk-ogee,
stopped on chamfered plinth) doorcases central to each of the two main
houses - C16; that to Portland and Priory Close less damaged and with
stilted label; 6-flush-panel doors the top two of The Glen glazed. Wing
at rear of The Glen has single-light moulded windows; Tudor-arched rear
doorway in stone; plastered render finish.
Interior: cross-passage with access to Priory Close and Portland. Stairs
to Portland in centre - late C17 rail; North room has c.1700 fireplace
with fluted keystone and basket arch lintel. Main truss to roof has
evidence of wind-bracing; rear wing has heavy timber lintel with wide
chamfer; 2-light plain mullion window to cellar.
