of Heyford House
GV II

Walled gardens. Probably C18/early C19. Limestone and marlstone rubble, plus red
and yellow brick. Walls are approximately 2.5 metres high and enclose a long
rectangular garden, approximately 12 metres by 50 metres, and a 3-sided garden
to the south, approximately 15 metres by 30 metres. They are mostly rubble lined
with red brick and with flat stone copings, but the eastern wall has a
Stonesfield-slate coping, and the section facing the enclosed garden is lined
with yellow brick, alternate courses having a continuous moulded projection
pierced with vertical holes (5 to a brick) for wiring fruit tree branches.
