GV II

Doric Temple. C18. Sandstone rubble, cement rendered, with slate roof, once
coloured. Doric tetra-style portico facing west with columns in Antis and
flanking pilasters. Frieze above with triglyphs and mutules, pediments above
on both sides. Archway to centre with middle wall pierced by doorway. In very
poor condition at time of re-survey. One of a series of garden features in a
fine Romantic Landscape garden built by Philip Cartaret Webb c1750-1770. Noted
in the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest Part
40 (Surrey) II*.
