Manager's house to Thwaite Mill; renovation in progress at time of survey
(1986). Early to mid C19. Red brick in English Garden Wall bond (3+1) with
stone dressings, slate roof. Double-depth plan. Two storeys and 3 bays
(with cellars), symmetrical; corner pilasters, 1st floor sill-band; 2 cellar
windows, 5 steps to central doorway which has sandstone architrave with
pilaster jambs and semicircular fanlight and outer pilasters with consoles to
a cornice, all within a shallow round-headed recess; two 12-pane sashed
windows at ground floor and 3 above, and small rectangular panel; above those
at ground floor ; roof hipped at left end, with one chimney on ridge and one
on forward slope of left half, another at right-hand gable. Rear has, inter
alia, a back door and round-headed stairlight above, within a giant recessed
round-headed arch. Interior not inspected (work in progress at time of
survey).
