Stable block. Probably later C18; altered. Watershot coursed
sandstone rubble with quoins, stone slate roof. Rectangular
plan on east-west axis.
2 storeys with 3 ground-floor openings, formerly symmetrical;
with a low chamfered plinth, raised rusticated quoins, a
sillband at ground floor, and stone gutter brackets. The
ground floor has a central doorway with plain monolith jambs,
a massive rectangular lintel and a small cornice, a stepped
3-light mullioned window to the right and an inserted garage
doorway to the left (presumably replacing a formerly similar
window); the 1st floor has only a circular pitching hole in
the centre, with a raised plain surround and slightly damaged
glazing.
INTERIOR: unpartitioned at ground floor, containing stalls.
Forms group with Royle Hall Farmhouse approx 15 metres south
(qv).
