Farmhouse, subsequently divided into two or three cottages, and now a house, early to middle C17 (a datestone, obviously ex situ inside the front room in the second bay, appears to read 1632), extended to the right c1800. Sandstone rubble with plain quoins, with watershot masonry on the extension, the front elevation of both parts being rendered. Stone slate roof with stone ridge tiles; a projecting gable stack to the left, a further gable stack to the right and an axial stack between the first and second bays. Originally a 2-bay 2-storey house with a gable entry on the right (now between the second and third bays) with a 1-bay extension (with cellars and outshut) to the right. All the windows in the first and second bays are C19, with the exception of the left-hand one on the first floor which is rebated and chamfered and has 3 lights (though one mullion is missing). The window on each floor of the extension has 3 stepped lights with square flush mullions. The doorway to the right of the first bay has chamfered reveals; the one on the right of the second bay has plain reveals and probably dates from the time of the extension. The rear wall has, on the ground floor, a 3-light rebated and chamfered window in the second bay, a once- similar window in the first bay (now interrupted by a doorway) with the blocked remains of a similar window above it; the other windows are C19. Interior: The original entrance door, with its arched lintel and chamfered jambs, is in the wall between the second and third bays. The remains of the (?) original stone winder staircase are at the rear of the second bay, and a C17 fireplace with arched lintel and chamfered jambs is in the gable of the first bay; in the room above it is a fire-hood. The attic contains, above the wall between the first and second bays, a truss of heavy scantling, with a king post having curved braces to the principal rafters and, at a higher level, braces to the ridge- piece.
