House, now a shop with flat above. C16 interior, raised and
fronted in the early C19; C17 rear extension. Timber-framed,
with old roughcast render; slate roof with wide plain eaves
soffit.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys and cellar. 2 window range: 16-pane sashes
in heavy slightly projecting cased frames to both upper
storeys. A late C19 shop front with central entry: windows,
each divided into 3 lights by slender moulded wooden bars,
with panelled bases. A wide C17 rear gable is shared with
No.30 (qv).
INTERIOR: cellar, linked with and similar to that under No.30,
is lined with re-used squared stone blocks mixed with some
rubble stone and flint. A later extension below the road cuts
through the front stone walling and has semicircular vaulting.
The beams on the ground storey are boxed in, with the
exception of some studs in the rear wall from which infill has
been removed, but it is clear that the front was originally
jettied. There are long rear extensions of various dates with
no visible features of interest.
