Set back from Market Place and approached by an alley.
Cl8 altered. 2 storeys and attic. Stucco on projecting plinth. Moulded wood
eaves. Tile roof. 2 C19 gabled dormers. 3 early C19 casements with moulded
surrounds and cills on 1st floor. 2 similar windows with small cornices on ground
floor. Good 6-panel early Cl8 central door with narrow rectangular fanlight of
4 panes, in architrave surround and under an elaborate curved and coved 'shell'
hood supported on double scroll brackets, carved with acanthus ornament. Panel
over door between the brackets. The shell carving in cove is enriched with free
carving of branches and leaves.

All the listed buildings on the South West Side, South East Side, Market Hall,
Market Cross and the Fountain from a group.

Also all the listed buildings on the South West Side form a group with
Nos 1 to 18 (consec) Northgate Street.
