Bridge, pedestals and screen walls
at entrance to boating lake

GV II

Bridge, pedestals and screen walls. 1922-28. Ashlar. The
bridge carries a paved path leading from the entrance to the
waterside over a small stream. Single round arch with
keystone, and low parapet wall with 4 square pedestals. On
each side of the bridge, curved ashlar walls with end piers,
enclosing a small pool. Flanking the path, 7 square piers with
plinths and flat caps, probable originally linked by a
railing. At the end nearest the lake, screen walls parallel to
the lakeside, with 5 similar piers.
This building is part of the architectural scheme of a public
park developed by Sir Jesse Boot.
