House, now offices, with basement railings. Early C19, altered
C20. Red brick Flemish bond, stone details, slate roof with
end stacks, wrought-iron railings.
3 storeys and basement, 5 bays. Central door with overlight in
stone surround with pilasters, heavy entablature and cornice.
Ground-floor windows in architrave with cornices and sills on
shaped brackets; 1st-floor sashes with glazing bars, painted
brick flat arches, continuous sill band; 2nd floor: C20
frames, stone sills, recessed panels between 1st- and
2nd-floor windows. Rear: a central semicircular stair bay with
round-arched window. Basement railings: acorn finials to
standards, pointed rails.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Maps suggest that the row was built between 1834 and 1850.
No.21 was the premises of Philip Dews, woollen manufacture in
1870, by 1886 the building was a warehouse for wool and other
items.
