GV II

House. Mid C18, altered C19. Brick, whitewashed, hipped cement
tiled roof, large central ridge stack. Long and short
chamfered quoins. 4 windows with keystones and voussoirs,
moulded sills, sashes with glazing bars in exposed casing.
Remains of C19 shop window with Doric pilaster to left. Left
return descends to river with 5 storeys and 3 similar sashes.
Front, right: added bay of 3 storeys, one window, parapet;
shop window to ground floor.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
2 plaques record that the building was the meeting place of
the 'Band of Hope' temperance movement, founded in 1847, and
that the first moving film was taken from the building.
