Includes: No.64 BRIGGATE.
Shop and offices. Early C20, altered late C20. Stone and brown
and green terracotta, slate roof. 4 storeys with attics, 8
bays to Albion Place, angled corner bay, 1 bay on right
return, (Briggate). Free Edwardian style with Classical
motifs. Ground floor: late C20 shop windows follow original
divisions; 1st floor: central canted bay window, paired window
left, canted bay to right, the remainder large, plate glass.
Sash windows to 2nd and 3rd floors, central Diocletian window
on 3rd floor fronted by a balustrade and flanked by elaborate
moulded band of plaques flanked by scrolls at sill level,
attached columns between openings. Bracketed eaves cornice,
elaborate gables to dormer windows, ramped parapet and obelisk
finials, Diocletian windows to outer bays. The left bay an
insertion in similar elaborate style. Right return: strong
corner emphasis with Diocletian window to gable.
