574-1/1/30 (West side)
08/11/77 Nos.150 AND 152

II

Pest house, now dwelling. Mid to late C16. Timber-framed and
black weatherboarded with gabled plain tile roof. Set well
back, at right-angles to street.
EXTERIOR: the south front of 2 storeys with attic; 2-window
range. 2 gabled dormers, each with 2-light casement windows
with central horizontal glazing bar and one small roof light.
Four 2-light small-paned casements and boarded door. The west
elevation has one similar casement. The rear, north, elevation
has catslide lean-to and an area of brickwork with brick
extension with tile lean-to roof over oven. The east elevation
has gable stack with large base with tiled shoulders and a
further ridge-line stack breaks through roof near western end.
Later outbuildings of black weatherboarding and gable plain
tile roof between house and street.
INTERIOR: 2 bays of good quality mid to late C16 framing with
internal arched wall bracing. Further 2 bays of C17 framing at
east end, a further bay at west end seems to have replaced one
bay of the original build. Jowled posts, side-purlin roof with
straight wind braces and remnants of original door and window
openings. Inserted chamfered spine beams and small joists of
probable C17 date. One fireplace has old mantel beam. Arched
oven opening in west bay.
HISTORY: this was the pest house of All Saints' Parish in 1719
and possibly earlier.
