Detached house. c.1910. The design from the Barry Parker and Raymond Unwin office. Painted pebbledash with flared weathering over plinth of brick in Flemish bond; short returns of eaves with tile creasing and tile gable kneelers. Half-hipped roof of tile, with half hip to facade having very broad eaves oversailing a pair of full-height bays; swept, boxed eaves. The detached house plays with the theme of the paired stair-tower type found throughout the artisans' quarter; however, here the bays are of a very unusual form, with very narrow proportions and slightly angled returns. The overall arrangement suggests a pair of columns supporting a pediment and appears to wear an expression; the roof form used by A. J. Penty in Temple Fortune and Arcade Houses on the Finchley Road is roughly similar. Right return with two half dormers, each with hipped roof. Entrance set under porch on left return with an original half-hipped dormer above; large dormer to the rear a later C20 addition. Casements of original design. The Asmuns Hill group is a most important example of a complete Parker and Unwin streetscape.
