Mid C18. Painted stucco with rusticated quoins. Three storeys. Five
windows in plain stone frames with rusticated keystones. Two blocked
windows on top storey. No glazing bars. Stone slate roof. Two late
C19 and modern shops on ground floor. Central four-panel door has original
shouldered case in moulded stone with pulvinated frieze and small cornice.
Rectangular fanlight.

Nos 56 to 61 (consec) form a group also Nos 59A, 60 and 61 form a group
with York County Savings Bank, Nos 4 to 10 (even) and Swale House, Frenchgate
and with Nos 1 to 9 (odd) Millgate
