Public house. Dated 1797, with mid and late C20 additions and
alterations. Brick, painted, with ashlar dressings and hipped
plain tile roof, with 2 ridge and single rear wall stacks.
Plinth, dentillated eaves. 2 storeys; 9 window range. Windows
are mainly C20 replacements with glazing bars and brick flat
arches. Slightly projecting centre, with a central half-round
bay window with a 6-pane sash. Beyond, on either side, 4
sashes, 3 of them blank. Below, the bay window has five
12-pane fixed lights. To left, two 12-pane windows, then a
door with overlight, then another window. To right, a door
with overlight, then a blocked window flanked by 12-pane
windows. Mid C20 single storey flat roofed addition at the
left end.
This building is one of those built or altered c1790-1820 by
George de Ligne Gregory, Lord of the Manor of Harlaxton. His
monogram appears on a datestone at the rear.
