THE SOUTH TRANSEPT is the preserve of the Scroope - Howe family. The principal monument is the black and white marble tomb of Thomas Lord Scroope with his wife under a canopy, with the smaller figureof their son, Emmanuel, kneeitng between their feet. This is by far the finest monument of its period in the County. Lord Scroope wears armour with the collar, mantle, cap and garter of the Order of the Garter His son Emmanuel has a 'lovelock' on the left side of his face. (Photo Aug 2007).
