A Grade I Listed Building in Langar cum Barnstone, Nottinghamshire

Church of St Andrew, Langar

John Chaworth, Knight, (d.1558) and his wife lie in alabaster effigy, with their 13 or 15 children as "weepers' around the tomb-chest, six of whom presumably predeceased him as they are shown in shrouds, or perhaps died in infancy. Some traces of colour remain on this memorial, giving an indication of the pigments used onginally. The foot end of these two tombs is against the wall, but the end panel is displayed on the wall.
